THE ANTIQUARIAN BOOK FAIR MAKES A COMEBACK IN TN!!!
Have I mentioned that I am SUPER THRILLED about the upcoming Tennessee Antiquarian Book Fair in Cowan, TN? This upcoming event represents the rekindling of rare and collectable books in my home, the Volunteer state. With the loss of the Antiquarian aspect of the Southern Festival of Books, dealers and collectors alike suffered a tremendous loss. In general, trade shows were seen as a thing of the past just a few short years ago, but the internet seems to be leveling out and the nostalgia of a real and personal gathering of actual humans is making a comeback. Attendance in St. Pete was incredible! The word is that attendance at shows and auctions nationwide is up! It is a great time to be collecting books and documents as information available on the internet and gatherings like the upcoming TABA Book Fair are coming together in ways that few saw possible. There is no longer such a thing as the uneducated collector... That is not to say that some collectors and dealers do not know more or less than others, but we all now have the access to a wealth of information that puts us ahead of the buying and selling curve before we enter the doors of a show where we will inevitably purchase books as well as hot dogs and cokes. The SHOW is a great way of connecting with the world and with real folk and we are very proud to be a part of this amazing comeback kid!
