The AMAZING art collection of Crichton SELLING at auction!!
The extraordinary art collection of author Michael Crichton, who died in 2008, is being auctioned at Christie's. Crichton wrote techno thrillers and created movies and television shows, but he was also a doctor. Included in the auction are more than 90 works by Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, Pablo Picasso and Roy Lichtenstein.

100th Anniversary of Mark Twain's Death
Today marks the 100th anniversary of the passing of one of the greatest authors in history, Samuel Clemens a.k.a Mark Twain. Twain is considered the most influential author in American literature, author of the classic "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn." He remains widely read to this day.

The latest gadget from Apple hits store today. It is significant because of its possible use as an e-book much like the Kindle, though on perhaps a grander scale. Whether this product revolutionizes the world or fizzles and fades remains to be seen, but the hype is no doubt tremendous!

April 3 Marks 150 Year Anniversary of the Pony Express!
The Pony Express dispatched its first rider from St. Joseph, Mo., on April 3, 1860. It was an all-out, high-speed information delivery service that traversed nearly 2,000 miles of open, desolate and hostile land.

ST. PETERSBURG ANTIQUARIAN BOOK FAIR IN THE NEWS!
An article about the recent book fair in St. Petersburg, FL that Yeoman's had the pleasure of displaying at. The event was a great success for all involved. As we move more and more into the digital age, book fairs such as this show that the appreciation for rare, collectible pieces of history is still strong.

An interesting story about ownership of the marriage license of folk hero and Tennessean icon, Davy Crockett. Margaret V. Smith of Tampa, FL says she inherited the piece from her uncle, who claimed to have found it discarded outside the Jefferson County, TN courthouse.

1300 YEAR OLD HEBREW MANUSCRIPTS REUNITED!!!
After centuries apart, two 1,300 year old pieces of Hebrew biblical manuscript have been reunited! While one part of the manuscript was on display in Jerusalem in 2007, two Israel paleographers noticed it bared resemblance to another page that belonged to a private collector in New York. Upon careful examination, it was determined that the two pieces did indeed match and together, made up the text of the Song of the Sea, an ancient song sung by Israelis. This is a fascinating discovery which helps illustrate a part of history that is still very unknown.

Yeoman's has just landed a small supply of the signed First Edition copies of 'Fort Donelson's Legacy' by Ben Franklin Cooling.
This book was a regular seller for us a little while back, but we ran out. The book went out of print and there were no copies to be found until now...
