May 9, 2010 The AMAZING art collection of Crichton SELLING at auction!!
The extraordinary art collection of author Michael Crichton, who died in 2008, is being auctioned at Christie's. Crichton wrote techno thrillers and created movies and television shows, but he was also a doctor. Included in the auction are more than 90 works by Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, Pablo Picasso and Roy Lichtenstein.

Today marks the 100th anniversary of the passing of one of the greatest authors in history, Samuel Clemens a.k.a Mark Twain. Twain is considered the most influential author in American literature, author of the classic "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn." He remains widely read to this day.

The Pony Express dispatched its first rider from St. Joseph, Mo., on April 3, 1860. It was an all-out, high-speed information delivery service that traversed nearly 2,000 miles of open, desolate and hostile land.

An interesting story about ownership of the marriage license of folk hero and Tennessean icon, Davy Crockett. Margaret V. Smith of Tampa, FL says she inherited the piece from her uncle, who claimed to have found it discarded outside the Jefferson County, TN courthouse.

Feb 26, 2010 1300 YEAR OLD HEBREW MANUSCRIPTS REUNITED!!!
After centuries apart, two 1,300 year old pieces of Hebrew biblical manuscript have been reunited! While one part of the manuscript was on display in Jerusalem in 2007, two Israel paleographers noticed it bared resemblance to another page that belonged to a private collector in New York. Upon careful examination, it was determined that the two pieces did indeed match and together, made up the text of the Song of the Sea, an ancient song sung by Israelis. This is a fascinating discovery which helps illustrate a part of history that is still very unknown.
